Question: Do you provide a document certifying that the films are disposed of properly, following HIPAA rules and regulations? How long does it take to receive it?

Answer: Yes, B.W. Recycling provides a HIPAA-compliant certificate of destruction for all X-ray and MRI films we receive.
The certificate assures that the films and all other medical records we received, such as paper jackets and medical records (where permitted) with patients' names or other information, are destroyed and recycled following HIPAA and the EPA's guidelines and regulations.
The hard copy of the certificate of destruction is mailed out within up to five business days of receipt of the film at our facility, along with the payment.

Question: Do you provide reimbursement for the silver recovered from the X-ray film? Are there any deductions?

Answer: Yes, we reimburse you for the silver in the X-ray film.
We pay for each pound of X-ray film we receive.
Our prices include free pick-up, and we do not deduct anything from the price we offer you.

If you do not know the estimated weight, any of our representatives can obtain it by asking you a few questions.
You can also use our chart that provides several ways to estimate the weight of the film.

Question: Do you sign a HIPAA-compliant business associate agreement before the pickup of the X-rays? Do I have to provide it?

Question: I do not have boxes the size of the X-ray film. Can I fold the X-ray film in half to fit it in the boxes?
